Eastern Red Cedar Candle

25.00

This great candle holder is made from an eastern red cedar log I picked up after a road crew went through and cut down this tree.  Believe it or not, that cherry red color is natural.  It's sealed with a clear lacquer and holds 3 standard tea lights.  It comes with a set of candles so you can enjoy it right out of the box.

13.25" x 8" x 3"; 3 pounds

Won't the wood catch fire?  I get this question all the time and it's a fair question.  But the answer is no, the candle holder won't catch fire.  The melted wax in the tea light cup is only around 160 degrees.  Paraffin has a flash point of 395 degrees. That means that at 395 degrees that pool of liquid wax either catches on fire, or explodes into a splattery burning mess.  You've probably never seen that happen because candles don't get that hot.   For wood to burn, it needs to get to 451 degrees...56 degrees hotter than than you can get that pool of wax.
